When I use Windows Update (automatic or Manual) I keep getting the same
Security update each time I access Update. It says that the install was
successful but it is not listed anywhere that I can find. The Update in
question is "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 SP1
(KB824145)" It tries to update almost every day (or at least every time
Update is Accessed.

Is there a cure for this problem?

Any Help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I tried all the suggestions given in your link
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/top10faqs.htm

Nothing seemed to work but I did find something interesting in the following
Article: Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 319109.

In this article it says to go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP1

When I did that I notice that I do not have any SP1 entries but do have a
list of entries for SP2 (none of which include the Cumulative update
KB824145 that Windows Update site is trying to install).any idea what is
going on. I didn't think there was an SP2 available yet.

I am totally confused. IE seems to be working quite fine without this
update but Window Update still keeps listing it as being needed.

Help!

Did you mean reboot or reinstall? I have of course rebooted several times
all to no avail.

Service Pack 2 won't be released until sometime this summer. I have no
clue why your registry would mention SP2 when it doesn't exist yet. Did
you download a test copy of SP2?
