Hi everyone,
I was downloading a few things today trying to get some more voices for
TTS. I downloaded some of the Agent stuff from the Microsoft website
and ever since then when I go into control panel->speech->text to speech
I get the message "This voice cannot be played. Please try selecting
another voice..." when I try to preview any of the voices. Some of my
voice-enabled programs still work, while others don't. I don't know if
this will help with the analysis but the programs that work are the ones
that can access the larger number of voices (Robosoft, etc) while the
programs that don't work are the ones limited to the same voices as the
control panel speech properties window shows (some L&H ones, and MS
Mike, Mary, and Sam). I'm running Windows XP SP2, and everything was
definitely working yesterday.
I've tried uninstalling everything I'd installed, and I downloaded SAPI
versions 4 and 5.1 and installed them, and I even tried downloading the
full speech SDK, and all of the MS agent stuff I could find. Lots of
reboots too, but no joy.
The only question I could find on google related to this problem
recommended right clicking on sapi5.inf and clicking install, but I
haven't got a sapi5.inf file on my system.
I'm stuck for ideas now other than a re-install. Can anyone help?
Many thanks in advance,
Dave Roth
