Problem with taskbar

Here is the problem:

The taskbar in Windows, the one at the bottom of the screen where you
access the start menu, the system tray and the tabs to open windows, is
missing some functions. I mean it's there, I can see the clock, the start
menu and all the programs in the tray, and it hides automatically, which is
all fine, but the problem is that, the tabs for the open windows (the ones
which allow you to switch from one window to another), just not there, so the
only way to get from one program to the other is using Alt Tab which is
annoying if you have more than 5 IE windows open as well as various other
programs.

So I was just hoping to see if any knows a fix for this or do I have to
reinstall Windows again which I don't really want to do, too much trouble.

Please, any help is appreciated.

Hmmm...

The only thing that comes to mind here is that one of your toolbars had been
expanded across the full width of the Taskbar, and that the Taskbar has
since been locked.

That can be done pretty easily, and almost replicates the problem you're
describing. The only two reasons I'm hesitant to say that this is the cause
of the problem is because (A) even with toolbars dragged across the Taskbar,
you are still left with a small portion fo the Taskbar that will continue to
contain at least one of the 'tabs' you're talking about (probably all the
way to the right, jammed in between the expanded toolbar and the
notification area), and (B) because you didn't mention having any toolbars
running.

Do you have any toolbars (including QuickLaunch) in your Taskbar at all? If
you unlock the Taskbar, do any of the toolbar adjusters show up (vertical
dots dividing the toolbars from the rest of the Taskbar)?

Sorry, that's all I can come up with off the top of my head...

Hi sheris

I'm not sure what you mean by "army time", but am guessing you mean a
24-hour clock? If so:

Go to Control Panel | Regional and Language Options. On the Regional
Options tab click Customize and another window will open. Click on the
Time tab there and you'll see examples of how to change your time
format.

Hope this helps :-)

I am not able to see taskbar on windows server. I cannot stop the
applications running there. I tried every combination of pressing
windows Key,F1 Key,Ctrl Key and Esc Key. Nothing seems to work except
Alt+Tab to navigate through applications running.

Please help me.
