2. Visit Windows Update and install any/all Critical Updates.
3. The problem could be due to 3rd party Browser Helper Objects (BHOs) in
Internet Explorer. We should check for these and see about removing any

Problem Solved!!!!!
My user profile was corrupted. I deleted it and then re-configured a new profile. I can now access SSL pages and Windows Update pages
