Problem with sound...

Nick

I have a Creative X-Fi Platinum sound card on my Vista Home Premium machine.
I downloaded the appropriate drivers for Vista, install them, restart, it
says the device is working properly but I get no sound. any ideas?

Have you absolutely made sure its all plugged in properly(the right hole),
the power supply for the speaker it working\plugged\turned on(maybe on\off
button) , the volume in the system is not muted\turned low, the speakers or
turned on(maybe on\off button), try some head phones from the back of the pc
or in most cases a jack somewhere in the front or even maybe the cd\dvd its
self. If that is all ok but still not working, go to "Device Manager" expand
your sound device(s) look for your sound card, it would say "Creative blah,
blah........", right click it and click unistall, reboot the pc, if vista
doesnt find the drivers, point it in the right direction, ie: cd\folder where
ever your drivers are.

Read Creative's forums.......most of their drivers are still in a BETA stage
and only have limited functionality at best. Most people are getting at
least minimal sound out of the drivers...maybe you are one of the unlucky
ones?

Good Luck....Chris

Hey guys,

Im in the same boat, except with both my onboard sound and the creative
driver. Both methods had their drivers installed and both did not work. I
disabled to onboard and the creative still didnt work. Sooo i dunno whats
goin on with that. I ve tried different speakers/headphones, tried manually
installing the drivers, automatically did them, etc... i got no where

Seems like a common problem with some people and the latest beta drivers of
theirs - the only good news is that newer drivers will be out on March 8th.

Well the new drivers have come and pass and i still have no sound. In fact my
itunes and windows media player wont even act as if they are playing the
songs. I hit play and the little bar that tells you where you are in the song
wont move anymore....

Ughhh

Don't know what your problem is, but there have been numerous reports of
problems with Vista and ITunes and QuickTime. Have you considered
uninstalling both of them and your drivers and reinstalling your drivers and
seeing of you have sound.

I have sound but very little volume. I keep checking for new drivers and
have the latest. However, even with program and computer controls turned to
the max on volume, I get what is usually an "average" volume level. I sure
hope they have an even newer driver waiting in the wings and that it fixes
this.

I had the same problem I did a right click on the sound icon chose playback
devices and made my X10 speakers the default device maybe you could go
through the listed devices for your system trying each one.

Purchase a new sound card that was made to handle the new OS you want to
use.
