Problem with Sound Card

Chris

I just purchased a Hercules Game Fortissmo 3 and I am having some problems.
When the found new hardware wizard comes up I click next and so on and it
cant find the drivers for the Unknown Multimedia Audio Device.... i have
inserted the cd and it has scanned it but it still cant find the drivers. So
i installed the drivers manually off the cd with no luck.... still unknown
multimedia audio device. I even tried the latest drivers off of the website
with no luck. I am runnign windows XP pro on an asus p4s 800 mobo. any help
on getting the sound card to work would be greatly appreciated :)

This review says the board uses the CS4624 sound chip:

There are some drivers here, but you really shouldn't need them.
http://www.3dsoundsurge.com/drivers/CS4624/index.html

According to the PCI Device list (site gone), the Vendor and Device
ID are hexidecimal 1013 and 6003 respectively:

"0x1013","0x6003","Cirrus Logic","CS4610/14/22/24/30","CrystalClear
SoundFusion PCI Audio Accel"

You can get a copy of SiSoft Sandra standard here. It is shareware.
It should be able to list the PCI devices in your system. The second link
below gives some convenient download locations.

If the PCI bus doesn't list a device at 1013:6003, then maybe the
motherboard is defective. You might need to RMA it.
