Problem with software that altered basic settings

I downloaded Ulead's Photo Impact Explorer XL 8 recently having paid
for it. Before that time when I plugged my camera into the USB the
XP Wizard arrived and I was able to request having my photos
downloaded to the correct files, then have the photos deleted off my
camera.

Since the software when I plug the camera in I am whisked to Drive F,
I only have two hard drives C and E and then have to shift the photos
to my files.

This is not what I want and despite repeated requests for help to
Ulead (I usually wind up with tech response that sounds suspiciously
as if English is not the first language of the tech) which get me
nowhere - what use to ask me is my camera plugged in ? Of course it
is, or why would photos go to Drive F !

I am hoping that somebody here will know where I should go to reset
the default settings that I had which I assume the Ulead download
reset to their programme.

Apologies if this is a really dumb question but I have spent hours
with no success trying to find the answer and will greatly appreciate
any help.

Sheena,

I think you would have better luck getting an answer by posting this
question on the Ulead website in their technical support section. I also
mentioned this in your other post responding to John Ski as to why your
questions have not been answered in this newsgroup.

Good luck,

Mike

It sounds as if your software is creating a virtual drive out of the camera.
I have a Fuji camera for which the software does the same thing and I just
copy or move the pictures to my one of my hard drives.
Just a suggestion but is there any setting in preferences within Photo
Impact that allows you to change the way in which it detects the
photographs?
Sorry if this doesn't help

I just saw your question on Ulead changing photo downloads from jpgs. I have Ulead Photo Explorer version 6. It is possible, if you used the digital camera wizard to set up the connection to the camera, that the file extension you are getting was selected instead of jpg at that time. I used a different software that came with my camera to connect to my camera or card reader.

As far as downloading, I did not find a download option (but it may come up if you choose "digital camera" under File. You can select the photo or photos you want to download and right mouse click, and "Copy", then in the window on the uper left with "Folders", select the folder where you to place the photos and open the folder. You can then place your cursor in the window for that folder, right mouse click, and "Paste" in that folder. If you want to download all files from the camera, under Edit, choose "Select All", follow the same procedures to "paste" into the folder where you want them placed.

If you see the files come across under some other file extension, you can convert them all to jpgs. Check under the Help menu on Ulead and pull up the "Convert Dialog Box". You may need to do this at the time you copy the files from your camera. Hope this helps.
