Problem with search and Windows update

I have a user that has a weird problem. If she tried to search her computer
using the Windows search, the window looks like it never finishes opening.
The dog is ther, but there is no option whatsoever to search.
Also, if we go to Windows update it shows "done" in the status bar, but the
page is completely blank, and to top it all she cannot print.
I have a feeling that it is all related, and it is possible that some dll
needs to be re-registered.
If you have any suggestion I would be more than welcome to try it

this was the second link in the page that you posted. As soon as the user is
back from lunch we will test out.
