Problem with Restoring to an earlier Date

When I click "Undo changes to your computer with System Restore " nothing
happens, so I am now unable to restore. I recently had a problem getting my
security updates from Mcafee. To resolve this problem they got me to delete
loads of files. I don't know if this caused the problem, as I have not
restored for at least 2 months previously.
Is there a way to repair Windows XP? if so how can I do it.

Hi Bert,
No I have not tried any restore points as nothing happens when I click the
Option
"Undo changes to your computer with System Restore" it just turns Black but
goes no further.ie no new screen appears on clicking the Option.

What happens when you go to Start - Run and paste the following command
then press enter.

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

Dear Bert,
%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe worked fine. Have now done a
restore and the original option now works again. Problem solved thank you
very much for you help.
