Problem with Program file loading at bootup.

I am having a problem with the program file directory loading and displaying
at bootup. I am running Windows XP SP2. I have a text file listing of the
boot log if that would help anyone to give me a way to stop this directory
from loading.

Please be advised, I am not a programer or IT professional. I know just
enough about computers to push the start button and click a shortcut to the
help and support file. So any help you might give me will have to be
something I will be able to understand. Okay I do know a little more about
computers but not a great deal more so please treat me as a child you found
looking at a computer mouse and didn't know what to do with it. (Smile).

A program that was installed just before this started, wasn't installed
correctly. The entry that was supposed to run a part of it upon
startup, was written wrong and doesn't show the proper path to the
program. So Windows opens the folder instead since that's the last part
of the command before the error. This can also happen if the path needs
to be in quotes.

You can click Start, Run, type MSCONFIG, click OK, click the Startup
tab, to see what programs are initialized during Windows startup,
disable any that aren't in quotes, or any that don't look like they're
complete. Once you locate the entry that is causing the folder to open
upon startup, either leave it unchecked, or remove it from the registry,
or the Startup folder within the Start Menu. Another way to correct the
bad entry, possibly, is to remove the software, then reinstall.

When you restart, the diagnostic utility will prompt you to load the
programs. That, of course would prevent you from seeing whether you had
selected the correct entry. Don't allow the entries to run till you've
found the offending startup entry.

Post back if you have questions, or you find the cause and can't remove
its entry permanently.
