Hi NG,

since yesterday I've got a problem with my hard drives.
All Partitions have about 30% less free space, but that space is not
allocated!
When I select all files and folders an let count the total size and compare
it with the consumed space explorer shows me for the drive, the real
allocated space is about 30% less than it shows in the drive informations.
This results in less free space. When I try to copy large files, I get an
error that my drive is full, because explorer thinks it is - but it can't!

All partitions are affected, don't know that to do.

I'm using WinXP SP1, automatic update download is activated. Mainboard
Chipset is Via KT266A and the hard drive is manufactured by Maxtor.

Regards,
Mark

The distinction between a problem and feature can be
small. I assume that you are referring to the Norton
Protected Recycle Bin, which keeps files after you dump
the normal recycle bin. It also keeps files deleted via
the ERASE command. You can configure this hidden area to
keep files for a specified number of days form the main
Norton Utilities (or System Works) menu. You can also
clean it easily via a right-click on the recycle bin icon,
then select empty norton protected files.
