Problem with Outlook 2000

S

Steve Bryson

MS AntiSpyware has locked up my outlook.pst file so that I
cannot back the file up. Workaround: disable Security
Agents on startup under Options/settings/Realtime
Protection, prevent the entire program from loading at startup.

Microsoft: are you listening?

Well, its beta, you just gonna have use that workaround, but thanks for
submitting this issue.

Microsoft does read these groups and the feedback here is being used in
making the product better. I'll also see if I can replicate this
myself--doesn't sound hard--you've described it well. What backup app are
you using?

When you say "security agents" are you saying disable all three agents?

You may well be hitting a bug --a performance issue on your machine--I'll
test this myself and see if I can replicate.

What backup program are you using (if any), as well as what version of
outlook are you running? Please provide exact repro steps so we can
investigate.

thanks!

I'm suspecting it must be the Import and Export Wizard in Outlook guys.

I use the Outlook backup addin from MS with Outlook XP. No
problems or conflicts with MSAS, it backs up outlook.pst
once a week (you can set the frequency, I believe, though
I've just used the default. That addin also works for
Outlook 2000.
