Problem with "outbound queue"

First let me state I know nothing about Outlook. I don't use it and
never will but a coworker is having trouble and I have been tasked to
figure it out. She has 7000 messages in, for lack of a better word,
outbound queue. How do I delete these messages? Virus scan in negative,
Scanpst was run and supposedly fixed any errors and her email client is
still hosed. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in
advance.

Why can't you open the Outbox and delete them?

the outbox is empty...I looked I am so stumped.

Well, that's the only "outgoing queue" Outlook has, so unless you see those
7,000 messages there, they're not in any "outbound queue". Where do you see
the number 7,000 and why do you thing they're outgling messages?
