problem with nested folders??

I'm trying to point the parameter value of a hyperlink to a particular
picture - mypic.jpg.
I've found a reasonably quick way to select the picture in folder list,
right click to show properties then copy the path.
If I paste that path into the parameters vale everything works fine UNLESS
the folder that contains the image is more than one deep from the root.

i.e. "folder/mypic.jpg works fine", but "folder/nestedfolder/mypic.jpg" or
deeper, does not!

Can I sort this out in FP2002 without making a real mess of my site?

Have you tried:

"../folder/nestedfolder/mypic.jpg"

two dots and a slash for each level to go up/back from the page

Why are you "copying" the path??
Click Insert Image, browse to the folder that contains it, click once on the
image file to select it and click Insert.
FrontPage will automatically calculate the correct path regardless of how
many folders deep it is

Cracked it! and smacked my wrist - Thomas I should have listened more
attentively - for anyone else listening - do NOT have spaces ANYWHERE in
your web - folders or files or images.

Thanks again I'm liberated while I still have hair....

no steve - I'm copying the path to the parameters value of a hyperlink 'cos
there's no browse button - it's for inserting an image into a different
page. I've sorted my problem by getting rid of spaces - to my embarrassment.

Thanks a lot everyone I truly appreciate your speedy help.

I thought I should have done it manually to punish myself - but life's too
short!

OK, have you tried navigating to the folder using the "Up one level" icon
and the "Switch folder"
arrow on the insert images panel ??

Duh - I think we're at different places? If you go to Hyperlink properties,
there's a parameter button, if you add a new one you get entry boxes for
name and value, I need to place the path to the image in the value box which
unfortunately doesn't have "browse" facility.
But if you've got a simpler way than I've wrangled, I'm very eager to try
it!

spaces bad
underscore good

:-)

Ok.
Click once in the page so the cursor is blinking where you want the image to
appear.
Then click the Insert Picture Icon on the Toolbar ( square yellow one that
looks like it has mountains in it. On mouseover the tooltip will say
"insert picture from file" ) and the Picture panel opens. From there you
can navigate to the folder that contains your images, click to select an
image and then click "Insert image." FrontPage will create the correct link
and you will see the image appear on the page.
You can also set the picture panel to show you a preview of the image you've
selected before you insert it.
