Problem with menu at start up

Hi

After an unsucessful install of XP on my second HD, it seems to have had an
effect on my principal drive where I have XP.

When my computer starts up, there is now a window which offers me the choice
between running XP on my main drive (D or Windows by default.

I've looked at boot.ini control panel, system, advanced, start up and
recovery, settings and it seems ok (see below)

Timeout=5
[Operating Systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home
Edition" /fastdetectooked at

How can I stop this dual boot window and Windows by default from showing up?

Boot.ini should look something like this:

[boot loader]
timeout=10
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft
Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect

Your Boot.ini is looking for XP on the 2nd partition of
your primary hard drive. Backup your Boot.ini, then try
changing it to above. I'm assuming that XP lives on the
1st partition of your primary hard drive.

Thanks for the idea but Windows XP does actually live on the 2 partition
(D

It's a long story but I had Millenium which is latin for a thousand crashes
a year!!!

Eventually, I had to install XP but I had one or two things that couldn't
run on it (software and hardware) so I installed it on a second partition.

Millenium has now gone and I even managed to reformat the C: partition with
NTFS. It is now used for important doc storage.

Anyway, XP would boot itself without a problem until I tried to install it
onto my second hard drive last week.

Any other ideas?
