Problem with IE7 and windows mail

Hi all

Is there a way to fix internet explorer and windows mail. I using Vista
Ultimate and when I clik on mailto link: I get this error message

Could not perform the operation because default mail client is not properly
installed.

Click Start, select Default Programs
Click Set program access and computer defaults
Click Custom, and select your mail client
Click OK

Then, follow these steps:

Click Set your default programs
Select your mail client from the list
Click Set this program as default
Click OK

I did exacly what you suggest in that order. When I click Ok it doesn't look
like it saving the command.
Now I get 41 pop-up windows.


Click Start, select Default Programs
Click Set program access and computer defaults
Click Custom, and select your mail client
Click OK

Then, follow these steps:

Click Set your default programs
Select your mail client from the list
Click Set this program as default
Click OK

This might be a permissions issue. Click Start, type the following and press ENTER:

cmd /k reg query hkcr\mailto /s

Copy/Paste the output along with your reply.

Checked the link I posted earlier? The article was originally written for Windows XP, but the steps can be adapted for Windows Vista. Don't have a Vista box ATM, otherwise I'd give you step by step instructions.
