Problem with forward DNS server (recursive?)

B

Björn Johansson

Hello all,

We have a forward in our DNS server to a third part supplier in order to
make several services work in our financial system.
It generates Event ID: 7063 (see details below) every two second claiming
that it's not configured to process recursive queries. I tried to disable
recursion on our DNS but still same Event ID. Name resolution is working
fine.

Is there anything I can do to fix this or is it only our supplier that must
reconfigure their DNS server? I'm thinking of putting it as secondary DNS in
DHCP...?

Thanks,

/Bjorn

------
DNS servers in forwarders list MUST be configured to process recursive
queries.
Either
1) fix the forwarder (ip) to allow recursion
- connect to it with DNS Manager
- bring up server properties
- open "Advanced" tab
- uncheck "Disable Recursion"
- click OK
OR
2) remove this forwarder from this servers forwarders list
- DNS Manager
- bring up server properties
- open "Forwarders" tab
- remove (ip) from list of forwarders
- click OK

This error is simple and straight forward what is the IP of the DNS that it
is giving you?
Have you verified that the DNS server noted does support recursive queries?
