Problem with Express Outlook

I don't know if I'm even writing this to the right
newsgroup, but here goes.

I just added a new identity to express outlook. When I
switch identities it:

1) First loads AOL Instant Messenger
2) Then takes a couple of minutes to actually switch to my
identity
3) Even though I've told my friends my new address, I
rarely get any mail except replies and junk mail. I
finally mailed a message to myself, and by the next day
still hadn't received it.

I have Windows XP and Office XP for Students and Teachers.

My ISP is Mediacome Online. Do I have to first set up a
separate identity on Mediacom? My son had a separate
identity on this, and it didn't transfer to Outlook
Express.

Can anyone advise me on this?

Thanks,
Mary
