Hi All:
I've just finished reloading WinXP SP2 on a refurbished emachines
T5020. I completed wiped the hard disk and created a single partition.
Seems to be working fine, however I plug an external hard drive into
any of the ports, the machine will not boot. I wanted to create a
ghost image of the system as a backup, and have done it this way on
several Dell machines that I have. I've tried moving the external disk
to a port on the system board, but have the same result. I see the big
'e' as it starts to boot, but it does not go to windows. If I remove
the drive and cold boot, it boot fine.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi JS:
Thanks for responding. Yes, I did check the BIOS. I also tried
booting with a 256MB memory stick in the same port and it did boot
normally. The only thing I can think of is that the external drive is
drawing power from the port. The device does have an external power
supply, I just have to find it.
