Hello :)

For several months now, everytime I get an e-mail notification of
replies to something I posted, the "read the response" links to

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...er.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

instead of linking straight to the message and if I click on the
"Click this link to continue receiving notifications for this
thread," I get "No posts available for this thread"

What's wrong?

Thanx in advance :)

No idea - but you might want to consider using a newsreader like Outlook
Express or Forte Agent rather than the web interface to the newsgroups -
it's a lot easier to do nearly everything there, including searching, which
is always a good idea to do before you post, as well as mark messages to be
watched, and filter based on replies to your posts.

The Microsoft public news server is news.microsoft.com and you can subscribe
to as many groups as you like.

Might be more appropriate posting this question to the newsgroup
relevant to your email client.

Except he's using webnews pages, not a newsreader, to access the newsgroups.

Cloudchaser, ask your question in a New Post and select "General Comment"
(instead of "Question"). This is a better way to post feedback about using
the "Community Interface" (webnews).
