problem with display properties

hi all,

my problem is i go into display properties but when i click on the desktop
tab it closes the display properties. please help

also i'm using windows xp pro sp2

Three troubleshooting suggestions

1. Run a spyware scan on your computer

2. Go to Start => Run and type in "sfc /scannow" {without the quotes}
You may be asked for your XP installation CD.

3. Rename the folder C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper temporarily in case
there's a problem with one of the images in there.

Run these commands from Start-Run:
regSvr32 /i shimGvw.dll
regSvr32 /i msHtml.dll

regSvr32 /i shell32.dll
