Problem with Display Properties

All the tabs on Display Properties are missing. I can only change the theme.
I don't know how this happened. This pc has less then an year and was working
just fine. It wasn't attacked by any virus (at least, I didn't notice any
problems besides this one). I need the Display properties so I can connect
the pc to the TV.

I've tried everything I found on the net about this issue:

I downloaded the REG "Restore all display tabs" (I didn't have the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
and that fixed it but the missing tabs still didn't show up),

I cleaned up the computer (used eTrust antivirus, Ad-aware, ewido, spybot
and HijackThis)

and I tried to do what was suggested on the site
http://www.theeldergeek.com/desktop_tab_missing_from_display.htm, but I
couldn't find the group policy editor (I have a portuguese Windows XP version
and "gpedit.msc" didn't work )

I don't know what else I can do! If anyone has any idea, please let me know!

Thanks!

Oh! Info about the pc: Targa GmbH AMD Turion (tm) 64 Mobile, Technology
MT-32, 1.79 GHz, 1GB RAM with ATI Mobility Radeon X700; Windows XP Home
Edition (version 2002) with SP2.

I've already tried that. I have all the right regs with the right values,
but the display properties still doesn't have the rest of the tabs.

Thanks for replying!

Display Properties missing tabs.

Value Name Policy
----------------------------------------------------------
NoDispAppearancePage = Removes the Appearance and Themes tabs from Display.
NoDispBackgroundPage = Removes the Desktop tab from Display.
NoDispScrSavPage = Removes the Screen Saver tab from Display.
NoDispSettingsPage = Removes the Settings tab from Display.
NoThemesTab = Removes the Themes tab from Display.

All of these need to be set to 0, if they exist. If they do not exist, that
is the same as if it was set to 0. If they do not exist or are set to 0,
the corresponding tab will appear. If a setting is set to 1, the
corresponding tab does *NOT* appear.

You need to look in both of these keys for any of the above Value Names....
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

I have all those in the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
and they're all set to 0. They don't exist in the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

I think it's something else. The display properties window is grey on the
area where the tabs should be.

Thanks for replying!

Dali8,

Give this script a go:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/reg/showalldisplaytabs-xp.vbs

If you want to view the contents first, then open it using Notepad.
