Problem with display

Hi!

I have quite unusual problem. I will take you throug it and hopefully you
can help me with this.

1. My computer
I have Acer Aspire laptop running Windows XP Home.
Spec: AMD Turion 64 ML-28
15.4'' LCD Screen
ATI Mobility Radeon X700 PCI Express 128MB
512 MB RAM
Some pieces of software. I am using driver provided by Acer for my graphic
card.

2. Problem
It is quite strange. It happened few days ago. Every time I turn my computer
off and put it on again my display is not detected correctly. Normally my
screen is detected as plug and play monitor. If I am having a problem it is
detected as LCD panel (1024x768).

What happens - I am unable to set my screen to correct resolution (1280x800)
and part of it (about a quarter) is black. There is a black strip on the
right and small strip on the bottom. I can't move cursor there as well.

When I start my computer I get an Acer logo. If the error is going to happen
logo is affected as well (quarter of screen missing).

I tried reinstalling drivers and flashing BIOS, didn't help. If it is not
working I just try to reinstall graphics drivers. Sometimes it helps...

Any ideas what to do with this? Maybe my default windows driver for my
screen got corrupted?

I would be grateful for any help.

If it's intermittant, and changes as you open and close, it's likely to be a
physical connection problem at the hinge. Take advantage of any warantee you
have available.

I don't think that this is a problem. I would have my computer on the desk
and one minute is working and after I turn it off and on again it is not
working... :/

Btw don't have warranty any more and Acer is not responding to my support
requests...
