Problem with deleting macro

A

Ann Scharpf

I have one workbook that, on opening, displays the
message "The workbook you are opening contains macros."

I researched on the newsgroups and thought the problem was
related to Personal.xls, so I went there and there was a
macro. Deleted it. (This was the only macro listed for
the open workbook or for Personal.xls.) After deleting
macro, I still got the message on open.

Read some more and thought I should delete the
Personal.xls FILE. I did that and I STILL get the message.

This only happens for one file, not for all my workbooks.

Is there some other way to eliminate this message? I
don't have, need or want any macros for this workbook.

TIA.

How did you delete the macro(s), just deleting the code?
Here's how to do it, press Alt + F11, select the workbook
in question from the project pane, look for a module for this specific file,
right click it and select Remove Module#, answer no in the popup that asks
if you want to export it before removal. Press Alt + Q to close the VBE,
save the workbook. Note that it is obviously this particular workbook that
has a macro
(or remnants of a macro)

Peo:

I didn't do anything this fancy. I just went into Tools >
Macro > Macros, highlighted the one macro that was listed
and clicked the Delete button.

I am trying to follow your instructions but since I'm
unfamiliar with the MS VB screen, I am having trouble.

In the upper left corner, I see the project pane. In it,
I see the Google Addin and then "VBA project -
MyFile.xls." Underneath, there is the listing of all the
sheets in the workbook; the last item in the list is an
Excel logo with "ThisWorkbook."

Am I supposed to click on the top item, "VBA project..."
or the bottom one, "ThisWorkbook?"

Which part of the dialog box lists the modules for me to
pick one for right clicking?

I'm sorry if I'm sounding clueless but ... I guess I am!

Thanks for your help.

Thanks, Ron!

This worked and I can open the workbook just fine now. I
will save these instructions!
