If you are not experiencing operational problems then it is not recommended
that you implement changes based upon information in a tool unless you
fully understand what that tool is telling you. If you cannot find the
object in adsiedit or repadmin and AD replication is working throughout
your environment then there is no need to make changes to your environment.
If you run repadmin /showreps and no one is attempting to replicate with
that deleted server then the object is deleted as far as AD replication is
concerned. It may show up in repadmin /showreps as a deleted dsa object in
which case the object will get cleaned up from the replication topology
after 14 days (by default). If that object doesn't show up there then
it's already been cleaned up from the replication topology. Is anyone
attempting to replicate with that server according to repadmin /showreps?
If the only problem you're having is that you see this entry in replmon
then you probably don't really have a problem. GUIDs for deleted servers
never really get cleaned up - internally Windows 2000 remembers the guid
for the life of the forest. Replmon (and other tools) can display this
information when they run.
Let me know whether or not anyone is actually trying to replicate with this
deleted server.
