PROBLEM WITH CURSER SKIPPING ACROSS MULTIPLE CELLS

In the past when I set up a new workbook in Excel, when I
entered information in (e.g. cell 1A) and hit the tab
key,the curser would proceed to cell 2A, etc. Now for
some unknown reason, when I enter information in cell A1
and hit the tab key, the curser jumps to cell 1H. Hitting
the tab key again jumps the curser to 1O, and so on.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how to
correct it?

Tools>Options>Transition. Uncheck "Transition Navigation Keys".
