DearAll:
How can I Explain this one? ok,Here it is:
Outlook 2003 sp2.

I am in the "mail" folder. I click New at upper left for
a new email.

In the unfilled-out email I click "To" so I can address this email.

I get a message box with an exclamation point which says:
"The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated
with this address list could not be opened;it may have been moved or
deleted. or youdonothave permissions. For information on how remove
this folder from the Outlook Address Book, see Microsoft Office Outlook
Help".

(all my contacs are there in the contacts folder.)

So I click OK.

I get a dialogue box that says Select Names on the title bar.
It is blank.

in the "show names from the" drop down list, Contacts is selected,
by default. there are none shown.

So I click that drop down box and see the following:
Outlook Address Book, Contacts, and Contacts.
yes, two contacts, and everything is empty except the
Second contacts which contain my contacts.

I have to select the _second_ contacts to see my contacts,
so I can fill in the "To" field.

I know there was an import or something done on this
to bring over the email and contacts from another computer.

How canI fix it so that when I click "To", my contacts are
there by default ?

Thank you in advance,
James Long

it was never munged.

Like I said, It was imported.

Here is the solution, I fixed it.

On the Standard toolbar, click Address Book .

In the Address Book dialog box, on the Tools menu, click Options.

In the Show this address list first list, click Contacts.

Click OK.

Thanks,

James Long.

You just need to configure your Outlook Address Book correctly. You failed
to mention how you munged it.
Just read the KB:

Not likely. That solution is completely inconsistent with your first post.
You've left out information.

Your problem is that you migrated your Outlook Data incorrectly and
corrupted the settings in the Outlook Address Book Service. You still have
an invalid reference to a Contacts Folder. Remove it here:
Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or address
books > Outlook Address Book > Change. >
