Problem with cell background in FP2002

Both the borders and the background picture options are ghosted in the table
properties. This has never happened to me before. I had to install FP on a
new computer (don't know if that has anything to do with it - using XP). Can
anyone help?

FrontPage toolbar, Tools > page settings, click the compatibility tab and set the dropdowns to
custom and if your using FP 2003 set the schema to IE 5.
