Running XP-SP2. After uninstalling Norton Systemworks, my floppy drive and
both CD-Rom drives do not work, although Device Manager says they are
working. "A" drive message says Disc needs to be formatted. "D" drive message
is 'Windows cannot read from this disk. Disk might be corrupted or it could
be using a format that is not compatible with Windows. "E" drive just shows
blank screen. DVD drive does work. Lights come on all. Tried uninstalling
drives. Tried knox utility. Tried Norton remove utility. Called microsoft
India and they have no clue. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the web site suggestions, but they do not work or apply to my
problem. The format error message comes up when I try to access the A drive,
even without a disc. The CD and CD-RW drives both show the values and
everything is working find when I do msinfo check, but will not work when I
put a CD in them and the recorder will not record. And I already typed the
full error message in first post. Anymore ideas?? Sure need help on this one.

I have the same problem with my PC - it can read the floppy and disks which
are in drives at start-up but once I change them I cannot read the new ones
unless I reboot with them in. Cannot connect out to any other PC but laptop
can access PC and xfer files in and out.

I wish somebody somewhere could help up all out with this problem. I've come
to the conclusion it must be a Virus???? I've tried all the help stuff listed
here and still have the same problem....

I’ve got the same problem - first discovered it with my SanDisk
Imagemate reader for the digital camera. But the CD/DVD-ROMS won’t
work either. I’ve also found it in other forums but no answers yet...
