Problem with borders!

I have a spreadsheet that has borders around most of the cells and
have data in most of these cells. The borders work well for m
printouts, but I find when I delete a row(s) of data it also delete
the borders. Because of this I have to go back and redue the border
so the spreadsheet retains its original appearance. Is there a way t
set the borders in place so that they will stay when I delete or cu
and paste data? Also, when I delete rows of data I then have to cu
and past rows of data below to fill the voided row(s). Is there a wa
to set the page up so that when a row of data is deleted the data i
the spreadsheet rows below will move up and fill the voided row? Sinc
I am a novice at this, there appears to be a lot of tricks you folk
know that I seem to have no clue about so any help would b
appreciated! I have included an example worksheet showing the border
and as I said, when I delete a row it eliminates the borders plus
would love to have it move the data up to fill the voided row or rows.

Thank you in advance,
glenraye

It sounds like when you delete a row you're selecting the
row or the cells and pressing the delete key. That just
removes the contents, it doesn't remove the row. To
completely remove the row, select the entire row, then
click on Edit, then Delete. This deletes the row itself,
not just the contents.

glenrayel,

I am not being flip, you just pressed one of my sore points...

Go to File | Page Setup | Sheet (tab) and check the box: "Gridlines".
All data will then print with the default border (gridlines).

Adding special borders takes memory, increases file size, usually looks
bad and does not provide an emphasis to important data if most cells
have them.
In the best sense, hope this is of some help.

I am not being flip either

Gridlines and borders are 2 totally different things. My sore point is I hate
spreadsheets where people print with gridlines.

They are a waste of ink and make things extremely difficult to read. A nicely
formatted spreadsheet with Outline borders other Formatting is a benefit of
working with Excel.

Special borders and formatting only look bad when they are done by people who
either dont care or dont know what they are doing.

Having gridlines definately does not pull attention to the important details of
the spreadsheet.

Only time I print out gridlines is if I have to research and write information
pertaining to each line.
