Problem with booting using udoc

I am having a problem getting an image to boot off of USB using m-systems
udoc. I was able to get an image to work on the same system using a CF
connected to an IDE port but not using the USB udoc.

I added the udoc component and all the usb boot 2.0 components in the image
and copied it to a udoc device. I formatted the udoc device using the
formatting utility I downloaded from the m-systems site. But when I tried to
boot the system, only a blinking cursor shows. I thought it's just slow to
load but letting it run for 4 hours still shows the same cursor after the
bios. The bios is set to boot using USB.

I appreciate any suggestion I get.

thanks,
Evelyn

I had a system that does exactly what your system is doing and it was a BIOS
issue in recognizing the drive type. The system manufacture will have to
make changes to the BIOS.

1. Are you mixing FP2007 USB boot with the uDOC XPe boot files? If so you
want to only use the USB Boot 2.0 in FP2007.
2. Does your system boot to DOS from USB?
3. What color so the uDOC led blink during statup - green or (red) organge?

And just a add another useful trick that may help you debugging the issue.
Put a non-zero timeout value in your image's boot.ini file. Then you'd know if you are getting to the loader or not. It may save you
next 4 hours of waiting :)

I am using Parvus PC 1461 with a Pentium III 800Mhz with 8 usb ports. The
BIOS version is 4.49.02 from Eurotech. Eurotech is claiming that the bios
supports USB 2.0 boot.

"1. Are you mixing FP2007 USB boot with the uDOC XPe boot files? If so you
want to only use the USB Boot 2.0 in FP2007."
I added the FP2007 USB boot components (USB 2.0 Common, USB Boot 2.0, USB
Boot Mass Storage Device and USB NT Hardware Detect). I am also using USB
uDoc component. Should I delete the USB uDoc?

"2. Does your system boot to DOS from USB?" I have not tried booting to DOS
on USB but I will try this today.

"3. What color so the uDOC led blink during statup - green or (red) organge?"
The UDOC led blinks green during startup. I created another image for my
desktop PC with 2.6 MHz dual processor which supports USB 2.0 boot. It works
when I put the image for this PC on the uDoc and the led blinks red.

Thank you very much for the suggestions, Sean.
