Problem with Audio

I have issue with Audio: audio playing too quietly: with noticeably less
volume than on old MB, and when audio has been played for the first time I
installed MB.
I recently installed new Asrock P4i65G MB, and by mistake connected cables
for the front panel USB ports to Front panel Audio Header pins (not fuly
though, only GND and D+, D- wires, not +5V,-5V) , not sure, can that cause
damaging Audio amplifier or not.
Or problem can be due to incorrect connection some other cables on MB?

Purchase a PCI sound card for around $10, and use that instead.
