Problem with audio

I have been using movie maker for a couple of years. All of a sudden I can
no longer insert music into a movie I will be creating. The minute I add an
mp3, the program crashes and closes. It is fine when no music is inserted.
It was working well up till about a week ago. Does anyone know what I could
do?

Too much of a coincidence... That is exactly what happened to me and it was
not a problem a week ago. I use MM for years, both MM2.1 and MM6 since Jan
2008.
The moment I select the music from my Music folder and click Import, I get a
message that I never seen before. It happened with WAV and MP3 (yes I know
some users have problems with MP3 but in years of use, I never had a problem
with MP3). When the music is WMA, then the error is not showing up.
I am curious that started just a week ago.
