Problem with ATI driver

Hohol

When I try to install new ATI driver for All-In-Wonder
Radeon, I got folowing error messages:
1. "INF error. Video driver not found."
2. "Try to setup your display adapter with standard VGA
driver before running setup"

I tried to install standard VGA driver, but without luck.
When computer starts, every time it is finding new
hardware devices related to ATI board.

Please, advise.

Try the following approach:

Download the latest drivers including the MMC from ATI.

Note: If the version that came with your AIW card was pre MMC8, you cannot
use the newer DVD player. You will need to leave your old DVD player

Use control panel -add/remove program

Remove the MMC, DAO, DVD player, Control panel and the drivers. Do not
reboot yet.

Delete the ATI folder on the C drive. Delete the ATI folders in \program
files. Delete all files in \windows\temp
Clean out the recycle bin.
Remove your internet connection if using a continuous connection like DSL or
cable.

Reboot.
After boot up wait for awhile until the SVGA video drivers are installed
(It'll may find additional hardware and ask for drivers just cancel).

After having given it a few minutes then start installation:

1. Drivers (no reboot) then the wdm drivers - reboot
2. Control panel (if you got the install package including drivers, wdm, and
control panel reboot after installing the package).
3. DVD -reboot
4 DOA -reboot
5. MMC - reboot

Reconnect your internet

It did not help.
Windows still recognize board as all-in-wonder and tries
to install its ATI driver. And When I tried to manualy
add "Standard VGA adapter", it was not in list of hardware
devices. Possible driver database corruption...

Wat to try next ?
Thanks.

If you did what I suggested there would be no ATI drivers for windows to
install. Yes, it will recognized the video card but you select cancel if it
asks for AIW drivers..

I can provide a lengthier clean up process which also involves cleaning the
registry. However, it should not be needed

ATI now has a registry cleanup uninstaller available, search their site; it
isn't hard to find. It removes everything ATI, including demos and such
(asks about them).

Hi John, et al,

Just got through fighting the same, identical, issue -- Catalyst 3.9 Update
(AIW Radeon - 7200) "INF error. Video driver not found". After about 2
hours on the phone with ATI support and subsequntly a system engineer, ATI
finally admitted that there are serious issues with the v3.9 release and
that this version driver package may not install under certain hardware
combinations. The only currently available solution for this error is a
regression install to v3.8; or the last known stable driver version. ATI
would not elaborate further except to say that the issue is known and a fix
is being worked.

The "INF error. Video driver not found" dialog is generally indicative of
serious video software conflicts, hardware configuration or revision
compatibility issues, often requiring a regression install to original oem
supplied baseline driverset for a given card; refer to ATI INFO-BASE file #
3659. In this particular case however, the v3.9 installation process simply
does not see a compatible video card, even though one exists. Thus, no
amount of cleanup will clear the "video driver not found" error.

On a personal side, this one really got to me and, stubborn as I am, I was
extremely reluctant to give up trying to find a workaround. I even went so
far as to install an older PCI SVGA adapter and do a clean install of WinXP,
in order to make sure that no ATI stuff was hiding anywhere. Ultimately I
was forced to regress back to v3.8, as originally suggested by ATI. If
someone else here experiences the same issue and subsequently finds a
workaround, I would sure love to hear about it.

Hope this helps,
