problem with addresses

Last few days have not been able to type a web address in the address bar and
get the web site. Can get web sites from favorites, etc. When type in for
ex. www.yahoo.com will get list of possible site I might be looking for. Has
some setting changed, I have reviewed all settings and do not see a prob.
What has happened?

From Microsoft:
"When you type an address in the Address box in Microsoft Internet Explorer
and you then press ENTER or you click Go, nothing happens."

Checked the registry, when I got to extensions there was no cached. Only
entries were (Default), .ini, .txt, .wtx Is there a missed entry?
