Problem with additional browser windows

Jess

Somehow during the course of my last online session,
something happened to IE6 that won't allow additional
browser windows. Meaning, that if I click on a "Login"
link or anything like that that would bring up a new
window, results in a white page coming up that hangs and
goes nowhere. This also seems to affect Windows Update,
which goes fine until I agree to their licensing
agreement and then hands when trying to start the
download. Opera is not affected, since it displays all
these pages fine, but I would like to get IE6 back and
operational.

Thanks for any help!

Mine has started doing this also. I checked with Ad-Ware 6.0 and found a few
things running that shouldn't have been there, and removed them. IE still
has the problem. I didn't see any security settings changed but it's easy to
miss. Any ideas??

I am having the same problem. I could not open this window
to post this message. The window opens and I see a white
page and it goes nowhere. Thus I had to open Opera to write
this. This really is ridiculous as so many sites I visit
are IE compatable only.

Can someone help.

Thank you.

Hey guys, took me a while today but I found the fix a
couple of pages back. This is a copy and paste from one
of the VP's posts. The first suggestion didn't work but
the fix tool certainly did.

"1. Click [Start] [Run] type:
(Press Enter after each command)
Regsvr32 /i URLMON.DLL
Regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
Regsvr32 shdocvw.dll

2. Restart Windows
3. Open IE [Tools] [nternet Options] [Programs] [Reset
Web Settings]

If this does not help, run this fix: Based on MSKB
article:
http://mvps.org/sramesh2k/utils/IEFix.exe"
