Problem with Access07db being zipped

D

Dtown Dawg

So we currently have users who are remote who enter their daily information
itno an access db. They then "Send To Office". The db is zipped and sent to
the home office and imported....That all works fine in access03, however
Access07 is a different story.

It seems to be something in the way Access07 zips the file, and I'm not sure
where to look or what to do. Everything seems to be working fine, then the
zip file always gets stuck and doesn't import into our system correclty.

I have changed the default save db to save in Access03 db, but still the
same problem when trying to get the .zip file in correctly.

Any suggestions or ideas.

How are you zipping the file? (perhaps you using my example?).

have a zipping example here:

Since this problem seems to occur regardless of format, I not sure if this
is a 2007 issue. However, you might want to give more details as to how the
file is being zipped. (and, are we running a split environment, or is it
only the back end that is being zipped?).

To add to Albert's information, You didn't say if you are using Windows Vista
or not, but if you are using Vista, have you done this yet with your
MSAccess.exe file:

As you really need to do this for Access to work right in the Vista
environment.

And, if you aren't using Vista, then nevermind :)

So you can't even pull the MDB file out of the zip file?

I disagree. That said I'm not yet using Vista so I'm hardly one to
comment. <smile> At least I'd have to say I hope you wouldn't need
to do that.

I would've though that at least A2007 doesn't require that you Run As
Administrator. And hopefully not A2003. A2000 and earlier I can
understand that it would have to.

And if you are switching versions of Access that do that highly
irritating reset then you'd have to Run As Administrator just to allow
that.

Hmm, when I get heavily into A2007 development I think I'll purchase a
new laptop with lots of RAM, install a 64 bit OS and run A2007 in it's
own Virtual PC session.
