Problem with a 'deleted past event' ... reminder & pop up message

Windows XP & Outlook 2003 (Part of Office Pro)

I have a problem with a previous (old) recurring event which has been
deleted from the calendar.
Every time I open/start up Outlook, I get the following error message in the
form of a pop up warning :
"Cannot tuen off the reminder. You may be reminded again. Could not complete
the operation. One or more parameter values are not valid."
Have checked and double checked and the event has been deleted from the
calendar, yet when the reminder pops up it will not allow me to delete,
ignore etc ... as soon as I press any of the command buttons in the reminder
window the error mesage appears.
Have run the repair function and the error still persists.
Anyone got any idea as to what is going on here ?!?!?

Thanks in anticipation !

Couple of switches that may help, one is /cleanreminders and the other
/cleanfreebusy. I would run the /cleanreminders first and to do this close
Outlook and from the Run command type "outlook /cleanreminders" without the
quotes.
