Programs terminating out of the blue is somethingIf you did an upgrade to Windows XP, did you run the Compatibility Advisor
on the Upgrade CD before upgrading? If the above is relevant, you would
have been given a list of programs, hardware, etc., that aren't XP
compatible, and which might be causing the problems. Also, if you did do an
upgrade, and you did not do a "clean install" of the upgrade (formatting the
drive, and then installing Windows XP), you'd have more a chance of having
problems. When the programs are terminated, if you get a dialog box, and
there's an option for details, copy the details and paste them to a post
here. If you upgraded, you might want to get the latest XP compatible
drivers for your display adapter at the web site of the maker, also make
sure that your pagefile isn't corrupted and is set to let Windows manage the
size, and make sure that you're not running any background utilities that
aren't Windows XP compatible. (An older version of Adaptec CD writing
software, an older antivirus program, any non XP compatible Norton/Symantec
products etc.).

I just installed WinXp Pro in my PC and encountered a serious problem
immediately. When I was running some applications, such as IE and Matlab,
after few minutes, they are terminated suddenly without any warning or error
message. This really bothers me a lot. I would appreciate it if anybody
could
help me.
Thanks.

The install is quite smooth, no any problem.

I believe you get to the point. Yes, I have installed an older version of
Adaptec CD writing software(Easy CD creator 4), every time when WinXp is
started, a message displayed that informs me this software has been disable.
However, I don't know how to uninstall it, because I can not find it in
Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. Do you think this is the cause of the
problem mentioned in Suject?
