Problem: Video card or power supply?

Recently my system has been freezing and sometimes restarts in the middle of
games. My Radeon 9600 seemed to be working fine for months. I always
download the lastest drivers. I'm wondering if the card is going bad or
maybe I need to upgrade to a higher watt power supply? Any suggestions?

Probably heat related. Thermal grease hardened and gone flaky, dust-clogged
heat sink, etc. This goes for both the video card and your CPU.

The power supply should be okay, since it used to work fine with your
existing hardware setup.

It's also possible your Windows is getting more corrupted over the last few
months with the installation/removal of applications, codecs, etc.
