Problem typing special characters such as ' and "

Hi,

I have Windows XP and Word 2003, and am having trouble typing characters
such as ' and ". This has only just started happening recently. The first
time I hit the key nothing displays, if I then hit the key again two of the
characters appears. If I type '+e I see é, rather than 'e. I feel I must have
some language setting on, but have not been able to revert to normal
character entry. Please help, it is driving me crazy!

You have enabled an international keyboard layout. This is a Windows
setting; check Control Panel | Regional and Language Settings and change the
selected keyboard.
