Hi,
I have a desktop & a laptop both using Windows XP Home Edition. Both are set
up with home & small office network.I am able to access the share files from
desktop to laptop. But unable to access the share files from laptop to
desktop.The error message is :
\\computer name is not accessible .You might not have
permission to use this network resourse.Contact the administratorof server to
find out if you have access permission.Access is denied.

I follow the MS troubleshooting method to use start,Run,\\computer
name\sharefile\.Now I can access the share files from laptop to desklop. On
the laptop I click on My Network Places, and click on the desktop workgroup
icon to access the share file, again I receive the mentioned error message.
Please kindly assist the problem.

Regards,
Steven

There's a registry value that can allow access to a specific shared
folder but deny getting a list of all of a computer's shared folders.
On both computers:

1. Run the registry editor.

2. Open this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA

3. Set the value RestrictAnonymous to 0.

Then, reboot and try accessing each computer again.
