problem starting outlook 2003 in vista

I just received my new computer with vista OS and a trial version of office
2007 installed on it. I went a head and installed the (geniune) office 2003
that I had and uninstalled the 2007. After some work and searching in the
groups, everything started to work accept outlook.

as soon as I start outlook, and after initializing the email server, I get
the message: " Failed to register VB Script DLL. reinstall or run
Regsvr32.exec ..." and I read that many other posters got the same message. I
did the "run", but it gave the error code 0x80004005 (general error code
according to my searches)

As suggested. I tried to rename the vbscript.dll in system32 or delete it,
but it doesn't allow me, and it doesn't allow me to change the permissions on
it from trustedInstaller to admin or myself (as admin). the security tab in
the property window doesn't allow editing.

multiple reinstalling of the office 2003 also didn't help. seems to be the
incompatibility between vbscript.dll (which doesn't go away) and office 2003.

creating another user also didn't help.

any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same problem ... I've tried full unstalls of both
Office 2007 and Outlook 2003, and then a clean install of Outlook
2003, with no success. The manual registration of vbscript.dll via
regsvr32 also didn't do anything to help (same error message as faro).

Any other suggestions would be most appreciated!
