Problem sharing files on my LAN

I don't know anyone that has a router. Could I test by using a crossover
cable? The laptop has a RJ 45 port.

If that won't work I might have to but a cheap router.

Thanks again

Sure, try using a Crossover cable... anything at this point to help narrow
down the possibilities would be beneficial.

I pulled the wireless card from laptop3 and hooked it to the router through
the RJ45 port.
Laptop3 and the desktop could now transfer files with no problem, but the
desktop was still extremely slow surfing the internet. I went to laptop2 and
tried to copy files. Could not copy files from either the desktop or laptop
3. Redownloaded and reinstalled the driver for the wireless card. No
change!!
Checked the firmware version of the router and it was correct. Didn't see
anything strange in the router logs so hit the clear button. The logs did
NOT clear!!! Turned the power off to the router, logs still not clear!! In
desperation I hit the hard reset button (the one that is recessed and you
have to use a ball point pen). Logs cleared and now everything is
WORKING!!!!! Files copy with NO errors. The speed is back when surfing the
internet on the desktop. Life is good.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, for all the help you gave
me. If there is anything I could ever do for you, please ask (within reason
of course <g>)
Thanks again

Bob
