I have windows mail. i have no problems at home. I have set up a different
acct(work) and am trying to connect from the work location. I succesfully set
up the new acct. and am connected to the internet.
It show sending and receiving on my email as taking place. however, after a
cetain time frame I get the following 2 errors.

Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'mail.comcast.net', Protocol: POP3,
Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'POP.mwconstructionservices.com', Server:
'POP.mwconstructionservices.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Please help!

Most Internet service providers nowadays block the use of port 25
SMTP to all but their own mail server. For more on this topic see
http://www.postcastserver.com/help/Port_25_Blocking.aspx

There are four possible workarounds:

1. Use webmail for sending: http://www.comcast.net/webmail
2. Use a port other than '25' for SMTP, if your mail provider
has a provision for that. Comcast offers port 587, but I don't think
they allow off-network use of it.
3. Use the SMTP server belonging to your office ISP.
4. Get a free Gmail account, configure it for POP access, and
use it for your sending chores. Gmail uses port 465 for SMTP.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.
