Problem relinking back-end with password

I just had to relink a front-end/back-end because the users saw fit to move
all their databases. Both FE and BE protected by same password. Now I cannot
relink the back end with the password. If I remove the password I can do it.
As soon as I put the password back I get 'Not a valid password' on relinking.
The odd thing is it never gives me an opportunity to enter the password for
the BE. How is this supposed to work? This has consumed an hour and a half of
my time so far.

I would suggest that you delete the links and recreate them - you'll be
prompted for the password when you recreate the links.
