I know a number of people have posted similarish queries, but I have
followed the advice from previous posts with no success.

Essentailly I am getting the below error message :-

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.iol.ie', Server:
'127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error:
10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I have uninstalled McAfee Virus Scan completely and have then added my
account to windows mail, but the problem is still there. I can send emails
but not receive them.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

John

The server address is for your virus scanner. 127.0.0.1 is the "Loopback"
address of your computer and is only used for email by virus scanners doing
their shell game. When you added your account, the POP server should be
pop.iol.ie like the account name, not 127.0.0.1. You may need to run
McAfee's debris removal tool, the uninstaller leaves lots of crud behind.

First of all, an uninstall of McAfee must be followed by using
their debris removal tool:

If you decide to replace McAfee, we can recommend a free antivirus
program which is more compatible with Windows Mail.

The server name '127.0.0.1' is invalid, and is indicative of some
third party program messing with your email. You must disable or
uninstall anything that interferes with email.
