Problem opening .mdb file in Server 2003

I am new to Access, and run into this problem when trying to open a database
that I've just created, but stored on a fileserver.
Specifics:
1. Remote-Desktop to a win2003 Server w/ Access installed on it.
2. Fileserver contains database files, running Win2000 Server
3. MS Access 2002

Here is what happens. I create a new database when RD'ed onto the win2003
server. I save it to the win2000 fileserver, and close it. When I try to
reopen it, I get this error:

"Microsoft Access cannot open this file.
This file is located outside your intranet or on an untrusted site.
Microsoft Access will not open the file due to potential security problems.
to open thi file, copy it to your machine or an accessible network location."

Hi there,

While in the RD session, try adding file://<servername> eg:
file://server1 to the trusted sites in Internet Explorer / Tools /
Options / Security

Cheers

thanks Mark. That did the job JUST fine.

Would this work for all other users if I logged in under admin and performed
the same procedure? curious.

I scratched my head on something like this for a while. At our company,
we use a customer database (Access mdb) located on a shared networked
(Iomega) drive. After upgrading one of our machines to XP SP2, we got
this error on that machine:

"This file is located outside your Intranet or on an untrusted site.
Microsoft Access will not open the file due to potential security
problems. To open the file, copy it to your machine or an accessible
network location."

The odd part is that the fix is through Internet Explorer, as explained
in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=303650

Fix:
Internet Explorer | Tools | Internet options | Security | Local
Intranet | Sites | Advanced | (enter share address) | Apply

Then I add the address of the shared drive (\\198.100.100.100\nethdd)
to the list.
