Problem opening documents

I have set the file location in options as 'C:My Documents\Word Documents',
but when I use 'Open', Word has suddenly started looking in 'Desktop\My
Documents\Dudley Miles's Documents'. I can go to C: and then 'My Documents',
but when I choose 'Word Documents', Word then jumps again to the desktop
folder. The only way I can open the document I want is to select and double
click it in Windows Explorer. Can anyone suggest a solution?

As this is a non-standard location for 'My Documents' have you moved the
folder to the desktop?
Have you correctly set the location in tools > options > file locations?
Don't type it in, but pick it from the browser.
