Problem mapping drives to dos

I'm new to XP Professional so please bare with me. I installed XP some time
ago and created a user account (ABC) during the installation. I have admin
rights. Unfortunately I forgot that the network access requires a different
user name (XYG) to access some software. I can't remember (as this was
installed as a development station some time ago) but I must have changed
the user name to XYG because it is listed in the user accounts and (ABC) is
not listed.

Now the problem, I have software that runs in DOS and requires access to the
server. After mapping the drives through MyComputer I can go to DOS and have
access to the software. The software requires the user login name to
determine if I have access rights. When I run the software is fails
indicating that (ABC) does not have rights. When I mapped the drives I set
the logon name as (XYG) but DOS doesn't seem to recognize it.

When I boot up the login screen always displays (ABC) as the user name. I
replace this with (XYG) when I login.

I hope this isn't too confusing. Can someone tell me or help me determine
why XYG is not 'apparently' being registered in dos when I map the drive?
